Trade Me API - FAQ

How do I know if my listing is online?

When AutoPlay submits a listing, it will check every 30 minutes to confirm whether the listing is Live on Trade Me. This is determined by the Trade Me ID returned.

AutoPlay will display a Trade Me Kiwi icon next to your listing in the Listing Screen as well as have a URL link to your listing in the Listing section on the Listing detail screen when your listing is online with Trade Me

Listing Details

You can also filter to all online listings by selecting the “All Marketing” filter (if you cannot see this filter click the Funnel icon (1) to expand the selection) and selecting “Online”

Can I manually push my listing to Trade Me?

With the upgrade to API, AutoPlay is now able to update and push single listings. A listing will be sent to Trade Me each time its updated but, in the event where you want to manually trigger a listing to be pushed to Trade Me you can do this by clicking the three dots on the top right while in the Listing Details screen. Navigate to Exports and click “Export to Trade Me”

What to do if I see a black error banner?

With the move to API, Trade Me validates listings before they are submitted to Dealerbase rather than them getting stuck in Dealerbase for a variety of reasons. To help explain when a listing cannot be sent, we have two types of black banners that will appear above a listing.

Banner 1:

This banner means something has caused the listing to fail when the listing is saved/updated or created.

It could fail for a number of reasons:

·        The Listing could have a body type that Trade Me don’t accept for that Model.

·        The Listing could have had the odometer wound back by more than 1000 km,

·        If it’s a new listing and the odometer is over 100 km,

·        If it’s a demo listing and the odometer is over 1000 km,

·        Special characters in the subtitle such as < > @,

·        Contact details or email address in any fields,

·        Rego# can’t be longer than 6 characters,

·        Stock number cannot be longer than 20 characters,

·        If a motorbike, Engine CC can’t be blank.

·        The listing must have a price

You can find out most of these above errors at the bottom of the listing under the Listing section;

If you’re unable to find out why its failed and it meets all the criteria above, AutoPlay support will need to look into it for you.

Banner 2:

This banner warns that Trade Me will not accept the information in the following two fields:

·        Transmission – Export

·        Body Type

·        To fix the Transmission issue, please select the closest Trade Me Approved option available from the drop down menu.

·       To fix the body type, please choose a body type the correctly fits the vehicle, please note Utility is not accepted by Trade Me, it is required to be Ute. A suggestion below the Body Type field will show what Trade Me accepts for the specific Model.
