Lead Dashboard – Swimlane View

Lead Dashboard – Swimlane View

Overview

The Lead Dashboard now has two ways to view your leads: the familiar List view, and a new Swimlane view that lays your pipeline out as a board, with a lane for each progress stage.

Swimlane view is built around lead cards. Each lead becomes a card showing the vehicle, the customer, the next action due and who owns it, sitting in the lane that matches its current progress. It gives you a read on the shape of your pipeline — where leads are banking up, what's overdue, what's moving toward Sold — without opening anything.

The List / Swimlane toggle sits above the board on the left. Searching, filtering, the date and status selectors and the Lead Summary tiles all work exactly as they do today; the only thing that changes is how the lead data itself is presented.

The board

Each lane represents a progress stage in your pipeline, and the stages shown are the ones configured for your dealership. Every lane header carries a coloured dot matching that stage, the stage name, and a count of the leads currently sitting in it. Lanes with no leads in them are still displayed, so the shape of your pipeline stays consistent as you work.

Lanes scroll independently, so you can work down a busy stage without disturbing the rest of the board. The per lane selector above the board sets how many cards load into each lane at a time, and where a lane holds more leads than that, a Load more control at the bottom shows how many you're currently seeing out of the total.

Where you have more stages than fit on screen, chevrons at either edge of the board scroll it sideways one lane at a time.

The Sort by selector controls the order of cards within every lane, and can be set to Lead Date, Customer, Vehicle, Progress, Origin, Created or Updated.

Moving a lead between stages

If your dealership allows manual progress updates, you can drag a lead card from one lane and drop it into another to update its progress.

All existing progress validations remain in place and continue to operate, so a lead can only be moved where the rules allow it.

Where a lane represents more than one progress step — Contacted, for example, covers both Email Sent and Phone Call Made — you'll be prompted to choose which step you want the lead placed into when you drop it.

The card front

The front of the card is designed to tell you who the lead is, what they're interested in, and what needs to happen next.

The vehicle image sits at the top of the card, with the progress banner across the bottom-left showing the lead's current stage in its lane colour. If the vehicle also carries a listing status such as On Test Drive, that banner is displayed alongside it. Where no listing has been attached to the lead, an "Image Coming Soon" placeholder appears and the title reads "No Listing Selected".

The priority badge in the top-right corner shows whether the lead is Hot, Mild or Cold.

Below the image, the vehicle the lead is against is shown as the card title, with Lead ID and Customer beneath it.

The Next Action block is the working heart of the card. A calendar chip shows the day and month the action is due, alongside the action title and its scheduled time with a plain-English status — overdue, yesterday, today and so on. Where an action is overdue the block is highlighted and the card's left-hand rail turns red, so overdue work stands out as you scan a lane.

The card footer carries the allocated user's initials or avatar image, so you can see at a glance who owns the lead, along with the View Lead and flip buttons.

Card actions

View Lead opens the full Lead Detail screen, exactly as clicking a row does in List view.

The circular button beside it flips the card over to the Lead Detail face. Click it again to flip back. Cards flip independently, so you can leave several open across the board while you work.

The card back

Flipping a card reveals the Lead Detail face, which carries the contact and origin information you'd otherwise need to open the lead to see.

The priority badge carries across from the front. Below it, any Event Notes recorded against the lead are displayed, followed by the customer's email address and phone number, then Lead Created and Lead Origin so you can see when the lead arrived and where it came from.

Quick actions

Three buttons on the card back let you action a lead without leaving the board.

Add Event opens the New Event window, where you can set a title, type, date and time, add notes and mark the event completed.

Comms opens the customer's contact card, with their phone, mobile, email and SMS details ready to action.

Allocate Lead opens a dialog to assign the lead to a user, with a notes field for context.

Swimlane view or List view?

Both views run off the same search, filters and selectors, so it comes down to what you're trying to do.

Swimlane view is the better choice for managing the pipeline. Because leads are grouped by progress stage, you can see immediately where volume is sitting, which stages are stalling, and how much is close to Sold. Overdue work is obvious from the red rails, ownership is visible from the initials on every card, and the drag-and-drop, Add Event, Comms and Allocate Lead shortcuts mean you can keep leads moving without opening each one. It suits a morning stand-up or a sales manager working the board.

List view remains the better choice for detail work. It presents Dealer, Vehicle, Customer, Next Action, Progress and Updated as sortable columns with full contact details visible, which makes it far easier to work systematically through a long list, compare leads side by side, or check allocation and follow-up dates in bulk.

In short: use Swimlane when you want to manage the pipeline, and List when you want to work the leads.
